Daito Kentaku Leasing is strengthening its accommodation support for the increasing number of foreign students.
Daito Kentaku Leasing Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Eiji Kawahara) will begin operating its first rental housing exclusively for international students within the Daito Kentaku Group starting in September. The first building, located a 10-minute walk from Akabane Station in Kita-ku, Tokyo, is scheduled for completion in August. Tenant applications will begin in June, with move-ins starting in September.
According to the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO), as of May 1, 2024, the number of international students in Japan has reached 336,708, an increase of 20.6% from the previous year. This is the highest figure recorded since 2011, reflecting a growing demand for rental housing tailored to international students. However, shortages in preferred locations and strict rental screening processes continue to limit options, leaving many students struggling to find suitable accommodations.
In response to these challenges, Daito Kentaku Group aims to alleviate the housing difficulties faced by international students by providing a secure and accessible living environment through the operation of this specialized rental housing.
Rental Agreements and Support for International Students
Daito Kentaku’s newly launched rental housing for international students accommodates both those already in Japan and those applying from abroad. The leasing process is designed for electronic contracts, allowing students to set emergency contacts such as family members or educational institutions in their home country.
Since 2016, Daito Kentaku has provided multilingual support for housing searches and daily life assistance. Additionally, the “Iiheya Net International Store” in Shinjuku, Tokyo, established in June 2021, further enhances multilingual assistance for international students seeking accommodation.
Furthermore, House Leave Co., Ltd., which offers rental guarantee services within the Daito Kentaku Group, provides an institutional guarantee service that eliminates the need for a joint guarantor—helping to ease the burden of finding a guarantor.
Through these services, Daito Kentaku Group is committed to providing a secure and supportive rental environment for international students in Japan.
