“The Osaka Prefectural Government, under the leadership of the Japan Innovation Party (Ishin), is supporting local companies in accepting international students for internship programs.”

News

Under the leadership of Governor Yoshimura, co-leader of the Japan Innovation Party (Nippon Ishin no Kai), the Osaka Prefectural Government has begun recruiting international students who wish to work in Osaka, in collaboration with Pasona Inc., to support local companies in accepting foreign interns.

To encourage the sustainable growth of local businesses by promoting the employment and retention of international talent, Osaka is launching a new initiative titled “TRY in OSAKA” (FY2025 Support Program for Utilizing Foreign Student Internships).

This program aims to assist companies interested in hiring international talent but struggling due to lack of experience or know-how. It supports the introduction of short-term internship programs with international students who hope to work in Osaka. By doing so, the program seeks to help companies improve their readiness for hiring foreign staff, while also offering international students a chance to understand Japanese business practices and workplace culture—ultimately reducing mismatches and early resignations after hiring.

The internships are scheduled to be held during summer (August–September) and winter (around February), lasting for at least 5 days. In addition, orientation sessions will be held for companies and international students considering participation, along with helpful seminars on hiring foreign talent and job hunting in Japan.

The administrative operations for the program have been entrusted to Pasona Osaka, a branch of Pasona Inc.
